What new and returning families need to know about the band and the Hanover Park Band Parents Association.
Welcome
Welcome to the Hanover Park band family. The Hanover Park Band Parents Association (HPBPA) is a group of parent and guardian volunteers who support the band and color guard.
The HPBPA is essential to the program. Last season we spent about $21,200, not counting trips, to support band camp, competitions, small ensembles, and equipment. You can see the breakdown below. Besides money, we need volunteers, and our current group is short handed. Please consider giving your time or a donation so every student has the best band experience possible.
Our band directors, Mr. Rack and Mr. Finkelstein, lead the students. For band news and student information, visit the Hanover Park High School Bands website.
Where the money goes
Here is roughly how the HPBPA spent its money last season. Trip payments are not included, because that money is collected from families and passed straight through to trip costs.

Have a question about the budget? Our treasurer is happy to help.
Membership dues
Dues help fund all activities for the entire school year, including the end of year party.
Each student member is required to pay a $150 membership fee. Students with unpaid dues will not be allowed to attend the end of year party.
Fundraising
Money raised through fundraisers pays for overall band costs, such as band camp, and supports the ensembles throughout the year.
The first and largest fundraiser is the Discount Card, also called band cards. Families are asked to sell at least 10 cards or donate $200 to the HPBPA. We also hold 50/50 raffles that benefit the band and need a few ticket sellers each time.
Any help you can give at a fundraising event is greatly appreciated.
Hospitality
Hospitality organizes refreshments for band activities, and marching season keeps us busy.
Before home games we serve pizza to students who sign up for it. After the halftime show we serve an assortment of snacks and drinks to our band members and to the band from the visiting school. The kids love it, and it is a great social time. For competitions, we stock the buses with snacks and drinks.
Your help is welcome, and every little bit helps.
Pit crew
The pit crew helps load and unload the band trailer for away events, including football games and competitions. That means help at school and on site.
The crew also helps students get their equipment on and off the field quickly, especially during competitions and home game halftime shows. You do not need to be at every event. Your help is appreciated whenever you can lend a hand.
Clothing and uniforms
Uniforms are assigned to students during band camp. Returning students get a fit check, and new students are measured.
The band provides pants, jacket, hat, gloves, and gauntlets. Families purchase polo shirts and shoes. Optional apparel such as hoodies and t-shirts is also available to order, and details are sent by email.
Past seniors have donated their old polo shirts back to the band, so a small number are available to buy. Watch your email for what is available.
Home Show
The annual Home Show is our most profitable event of the year, and it only succeeds with help from parents. It is an all hands on deck event.
We need everything from donations to stock the snack shack, to 50/50 sellers, to grillers. Watch your email for the sign up link, or use the button below.
